About Me

I grew up in Texas but loved spending time each year visiting family and exploring central and eastern Nebraska. I've lived in several places - Texas, Indonesia, Arkansas, and I have family all over; but it's Nebraska and the midwest that feel like home. My husband and I live just outside of Omaha where we are raising our son and daughter along with our standard poodle, a handful of barn cats, an assortment of chickens, and enjoying the company of our boarding horses. If I'm not in the rehab gym or learning about the world through the eyes of a toddler, you can usually find me in the garden or enjoying time with family.

Physical Therapy Background

I graduated from Creighton University in 2016 with my Doctorate in Physical Therapy (DPT) and went immediately into Creighton's orthopedic residency program. The residency program involved a year of focused orthopedics study, teaching in the Creighton PT program, and patient care at a local outpatient physical therapy clinic. I received my board certification as a clinical specialist in orthopedic physical therapy (OCS) in 2018. After completing residency, I worked at a Level 1 trauma hospital in Omaha in both the inpatient and outpatient physical therapy departments. This meant I was able to appreciate the full spectrum of recovery and provide physical therapy treatment from day one of injury/surgery through to a patient's 'graduation' from physical therapy. My interests in the field of physical therapy include but are not limited to: orthopedics and post-operative recovery, manual therapy, dry needling, aquatic therapy, chronic pain management, TMJ pain, the overlap in neurologic and orthopedic treatment approaches, and treatment of human/canine and human/equine athlete pairs.

Animal Rehabilitation Experience

I grew up with a variety of animal family members from dogs and cats to horses and goats. I worked as a veterinary assistant at my local vet before attending college with the intention of pursuing a pre-veterinary degree track. I played soccer and softball in college and fell in love with the field of physical therapy. My interest in animal rehabilitation began during physical therapy school at Creighton University with influence from Dr. Kirk Peck, a pioneer in animal rehabilitation both locally and nationally. I was able to complete my certification in equine rehabilitation (CERP) during residency and my certification in canine rehabilitation (CCRT) soon after. In 2019 after completing my canine internship with Dr. Michelle Beck at Canine Rehabilitation and Wellness, I joined the CRW team and provided canine rehab services in Omaha for 3 years. My next chapter began in October 2022, and I am excited to continue to provide animal rehabilitation with Rise Animal Wellness and Rehabilitation for the Omaha and Midwest communities.
